Let’s Put On  A Car Show!

With that clearly in their young minds, two Scarsdale High School sophomores, Evan M. Cygler and Dennis O’Leary III, in 2003 launched the Scarsdale Concours d’Elegance with the help of the Scarsdale Police Department and the enthusiastic approval of village officials.

Now in its 11th year, the show was created in response to three items; (I) a desire to showcase Scarsdale students as part of a constructive and giving community, (II) a passion for great cars both new and vintage, and (III) the opportunity to raise significant funds for area charities. In fall of 2003 the founders were talking about doing something fun and worthwhile involving their love of cars, and the simple idea of a car day snowballed into their first Concours. Everyone they talked to loved the idea and received active support from numerous constituencies including the police, local government, merchants and car collectors. The event serves as a great lesson that anything is possible. In the past ten years the event has raised over $275,000.00 for charities across Westchester County.

With Evan and Denis now pursuing business careers, a group of accomplished local businessmen have assumed responsibility for the event to ensure that the legacy established by Evan and Denis will continue for many years. The big news for the 2012 event was Evan Cygler’s passing of the torch to two upcoming members of the board, both aged 14. Ben Hasson and Sam Fried, both newly appointed members of the board will serve with their fathers, board members Ira and David. These two outstanding young men received a special honor from Evan Cygler in a dedication accompanying the awards ceremony as he stepped down from his position as Founder and CEO of the Concours. In 2013 Dan Patrizio, son of Board Member, Lawrence, is also came on board making it three father and son teams now on the Scarsdale Board of Directors. Along with the father and son teams, the board has grown to include Randy Cobian, Richard Hubbell, Andrew Albert, Leif Waller and in keeping with tradition, another brilliant high school student, Jacob Goodman.

The Scarsdale Concours thanks the owners and the attendees they are the heart of the show!
